“Ann Sayer MBE, has died at the aged of 83 after a short illness. Ann was involved in many aspects of life in Teddington where she lived and played an active part in the community.
Ann had a most interesting life and in many ways was ahead of her time. Amongst other things she was a walker and world-record holder of Multiday Events (Walking). In 1977, she walked 100 miles in Dutch 100 Miles race at St. Oedenrode (21miles and 46 minutes). She was the first British ‘Continental Centurion’ and the first British female Centurion. In 1980 she walked from Land’s End to John O’Groats (1400km.) 13 days and 18 hours. She broke the Across Great Britain World Record and Across Scotland World Record.
Ann was also a Leader on the Richmond Health Walks and was one of the longest standing and valued leaders. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”
