Councillor’s Update

Local election results

After a long Borough campaign all 48 Liberal Democrat candidates and five out of six Green Party candidates were successful on May 5th, leaving just one Conservative Councillor. In Teddington ward my two new colleagues are Phil Giesler (who takes over as Borough Business lead from Richard Baker) and Charlie Engel. In Hampton Wick and South Teddington ward all three Councillors continue with Robin Brown and Jim Millard as Finance and Housing leads. Phil, Richard and I have since met some of the traders from Broad Street and discussed possible proposals to enhance its appearance and attraction as a destination.

Udney Park playing fields

The latest news from AAH (formerly Quantum) is that they have received an offer high enough to meet their shareholders’ aspirations. Whether it is acceptable in planning terms is another matter and the bidders will be seeking advice.

Turing House School

Turing House School has now moved from its temporary home next to Teddington Hospital to a new building at Hospital Bridge Road. As part of the planning permission for the new school an enhanced 481 bus service is being provided from Teddington to the school at the beginning and end of the school day.

The garden last month

Aquilegia vulgaris or Columbine is a cottage garden native perennial, which enjoys semi-shade and will spread by self-seeding. Although normally blue there are many cultivars of different colours, some with long spurs.
