Dragon Drama Comes Home

The family-run independent business Dragon Drama happily returned to its beautiful home*, the Grade II listed Normansfield Theatre on March 8th, along with the reopening of schools.

The Dragons’ survival through the difficult times of the pandemic has been one of diversification, determination and sheer drive as it adapted its methods and techniques to keep engaging with children via online workshops. Although a challenge to apply high energy improvisation games, exercises and stories to an online setting, it found a way and continued to inspire and encourage youngsters throughout this period of isolation and stress.

“We found a greater purpose and depth to what we do with drama, a cathartic release and a comfort in difficult times.” And as one mother recently told them: “Thank you so much for all you do for the kids. It’s literally been a lifesaver for them.”

While this inspiring drama company, which counts Dame Judi Dench and Colin Firth among its Patrons, is excited about being back in the theatre, it also says of the last year: “We’re proud of what we achieved and fascinated by the further awareness it’s given us as creatives and as a business.”

*All pre-6pm workshops are back in the theatre. For further information contact: dragondrama.co.uk  email: askus@dragondrama.co.uk
