Jeanie’s Barber Shop – The End of an Era

Twenty four years ago, I opened for business at 89A High Street, Teddington.

My decision to open in Teddington was a good one, and soon I was cutting the hair of dads, grandads and kids. The service must have been good as the customers kept coming back, and they also spread the word amongst their friends and families.

Twenty four years later, I can look back at generations of families. Some of those kids, who are now dads themselves, still use Jeanie’s for
a monthly trim, as with some of the dads who are now grandads and still coming to the shop. It has been lovely to see my clients and I grow old together, and we have lasted longer than some marriages! However, all good things must come to an end, and now it is time to hang up my clippers.

Teddington has been very good for me, and the support I received through the years when my dear mum and dad passed on, and more recently when my beautiful sister was cruelly taken from us, has been truly amazing. I will always treasure the love and support you gave me.

The business will continue and will be owned and run by Aga, who has been a treasure throughout the years. I can think of nobody better to continue to deliver a great barbering service to the people of Teddington.

My last day of cutting hair was to have been 21st March, with my final day being 28th March, when I planned to host a farewell drink with
my lovely clients and share a glass of wine, and maybe some memories and a few laughs. Unfortunately, I have just been diagnosed with bowel cancer, and I am looking to start treatment as soon as possible. This will result in my not being able to be at the shop for most of March.

This is not the farewell I wanted but I’m told that my condition is treatable, so I will be around in Teddington for some time to come. Hopefully, I will catch up with all my treasured customers at some time in the future.

It has been great.

Thank you all, and much love, from Jeanie.
