Acupuncture is one of the longest established forms of healthcare in the world.
It originated in China approximately 2,500 years ago and is practised across the globe. It is still used alongside western medicine in Chinese hospitals and in pain clinics in the UK.
For acupuncturists who are trained in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the focus is on the individual, rather than an isolated complaint. The aim is to direct the flow of qi to trigger your body’s healing response and to restore physical, emotional and mental equilibrium.
Treatment is designed to affect your whole being as well as your symptoms; as the condition being treated improves, you may notice other health problems resolve and an increased feeling of wellbeing. Other techniques may also be used to support the treatment such as cupping, massage, heat lamps and diet and lifestyle advice.
I see people in clinic for many conditions including pain relief, menopause, anxiety, headaches and digestive complaints. If there’s a niggle that’s been bothering you, or a condition that’s causing distress, please get in contact to see how we may be able to help you.
