Rugby podcaster Will and Michael Wood give us a round-up of Harlequins news…
A roller coaster 2021 for Harlequins. We enter the new year as the reigning Double Champions of English Rugby. That never gets old! The Christmas festivities involving some away days in Europe, the culmination of the calendar year’s domestic competitions in the Men’s and Women’s Premiership, and of course the Double Header – Big Game at The Big Stoop! We’ve had an amazing time supporting this club in 2021 and had some great fun recording our weekly ramblings for our podcast. The club as a whole has been nothing short of exceptional during the year. The incredible efforts into accommodating a vaccination programme, and the championing of a new LGBTQ+ supporters association. Both make us very proud supporters.
So, what are we both looking forward to in 2022? The culmination of both campaigns in the domestic leagues. We couldn’t go double back to back, could we? We hope to see the men push deep into the European competition, which would be a next challenging step for this group. The main ambition for both squads is to be right in the thick of it come season’s end in the Gallagher Premiership and Allianz Premiers 15s. Some more brilliant news that there will be women’s premiership matches shown live on free-to-air TV. This can not be underestimated. A huge step for our game and the chance to watch our world-class women challenge for the title again!
As a podcast, Will and I shall be communicating non-stop to try and bring some coherence to the chaos. We will be branching out and growing relationships with other fan bases, similar to our podcast, with the Leicester Tigers equivalency – The Rolling Maul. Hopefully talking to more people from inside the club and continuing to scream and shout and ride every emotion from our seats in the ground. Maybe even with a beer in hand.
Bring on 2022 and COME ON YOU QUINS!!
