Mister Mayor, Councillor Geoff Acton
With restrictions in the current crisis now starting to ease, Mayoral activity has increased with attendance at some events both physical and online and the start of Citizenship ceremonies and socially distanced meetings with VIPs, residents and my charities.
We now have dates for fundraising events for both the South West London Environment Network and Dose of Nature charities. As both charities are very much involved in our communities and environmental action, we will be looking to do as many events and activities as possible to raise the maximum funds that we can and to catch up on missed time!
The way our lives have changed, access to green space and nature has never been more important and with all our parks, open spaces and walks we will be looking to work with our communities to improve both nature conservation and heritage preservation.
Mental health has also been adversely affected and engagement with the natural world will help address these issues.
Both SWLEN and Dose of Nature are ideal charities to help with improving our health and wellbeing in our wonderful Borough and I look forward to working with them.
My first event of the year is on Saturday 12th September at Kew Gardens. A team, including the Mayoress will be taking part in Richmond Runfest 10k run.
You can also join us at Strawberry Hill Golf Club for a ‘Mayor’s Tournament’ on 15th September.
