Green Salon of the Year… That’s Mint!

by Kate Woods

This year is set to go down as the biggest rollercoaster of our lives. The lows of lockdown and all its struggles, broken up by the highs of experiencing some sort of normality. Most of us will always remember that first time we saw a loved one again, were able to socialise, or finally saw our hairdresser!

For Dan and Penny Benson, owners of Mint Hair & Beauty on Church Street, Twickenham, it truly has been a year of extremes.

After the challenges of having to close their family-run business and make sure their team were looked after in the Spring, there was the grand re-opening July.

“We felt like rock stars!” says Dan. “I don’t think our clients have ever been so pleased to see us.”

Now, as the pressures of the second lockdown kick-in, the Mint Hair and Beauty Team have just had the ultimate high – being named Green Salon of the Year at the Salon Business Awards.

The national awards acknowledge the most progressive, forward-thinking salons in the country, so Dan was delighted to be recognised for Mint’s eco-friendly philosophy.

“We were so proud when they announced our name. We have all worked so hard to make the salon as sustainable as possible and it’s at the heart of everything we do.

“We use organic Oway hair colour, care and styling products, but being environmentally-friendly is also at the crux of the salon’s design, the tools we use and the experience we offer in the salon.”

As well as professional hair and beauty products, Mint has introduced a range of sustainable products, many of which are locally sourced, that includes hairbrushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste cotton buds, oil burners and reed diffuser,  and even re-usable straws and sandwich bags.

When you visit Mint you are guaranteed an eco-friendly experience with premium results that last.

To book an appointment call the salon on 020 8891 5544 or if you happen to be passing by, help yourself to one of our Oway refillable glass bottles. They’re perfect for candle holders or as mini flower pots.
