Harlequins: The Defense

Two Woods Four Quarters ~ A Harlequins Podcast.

The end of summer has come around again. Even for those dedicated professionals from the teaching community with the biggest of breaks will tell you, it has gone far too quickly.

Alas, a new season of rugby is rapidly approaching, and boy are we excited for it. 2021/22 will see both Harlequins sides enter this season in slightly unfamiliar territory. We are now the hunted in the Gallagher Premiership and the Allianz Premier 15s. With both squad lists now finalised, its exciting to see what they can achieve in their respective competitions, while embracing the style of play and rich DNA that was ever present last season.

At time of writing, Harlequins Women have opened their account with two wins from two. Starting off their season in front of a bustling crowd at The Stoop, which was glistening in the early September sun, they followed up with a tough win on the road against Worcester the following week. And with plenty of games scheduled at HQ, it’s an exciting time to be following this fantastic side.

Now for the other defending champs (never gets boring saying that), two pre-season fixtures against Cardiff and Leinster. A win and a loss is perhaps not the most important statistic. The chance to see some of the new signings in action, alongside some exciting prospects from the younger part of the squad. The Cardiff game won in a typical come from behind fashion. Wouldn’t do it any other way would we?

Season 2 of the podcast is now fully underway too! Talking points for Episode 1 include the new look squads, the new kit release and more. With games coming thick and fast, we are going to have plenty to talk about in the coming weeks. The first of those weeks however starts with a 300+ mile trip, to take on the Newcastle Falcons on the opening weekend. Seeing Mike Brown line up against Quins won’t sit comfortably with any of us, but hopefully it’s a winning start. We are looking forward to some long-awaited away days in Europe in the Heineken Champions Cup, covid restrictions pending! Plus the return of the best day of the year – Big Game is back with a double header at The Big Stoop!

Season 2021/22 – Letttssss Goooo!!!!
