After After the success of the Rockin’ The Lockin’ online music concerts during the first Lockdown The Landmark Arts Centre is teaming up with its organisers, Teddington Together, to hold an indoor live music festival on the weekend of 14th-15th May this year.
The online concerts, featuring a stunning line-up of local artists, were originally set up to raise money for local charities and establishments who were struggling during lockdown. A fantastic £6,717 was raised across six events.
One of the establishments to benefit from the fundraising initiative was Teddington’s Landmark Arts Centre. On 23rd May 2020, 25 super-talented local musicians played for 25 minutes each to raise money to prevent the permanent closure of the Landmark and to celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary. The online concert was streamed from the musicians’ homes via video conferencing software across social media channels, raising £2,828. Weeks in planning, the event ran for over 12 hours on the day, with artists and organisers giving their time for free.
Now those very same artists who offered their support will perform in front of a live audience inside the beautiful Landmark Arts Centre. Spokesperson Lesley Bossine says: “Back in 2020 we were so grateful for the support of Teddington Together and these fantastic local musicians as we battled to avoid permanent closure. Now we are delighted to be partnering with them to present this live festival, showcasing amazing local talent for the whole community to enjoy.”
The music genres will range from Country and Blues, to rock and pop via classical and rap, so there’s something for everybody. The event will feature local traders selling food and drink alongside crafts stalls. All profits from the events will be split equally between The Landmark Arts Centre (a registered charity) and non-profit organisation Teddington Together, providing vital funds to enable them to continue serving the local community with events such as Teddington Christmas Lights Up.
In keeping with the spirit of all things local, newly launched drinks company, Bone Idyll, will be supporting the event on the Saturday night. Introduced to us back in November 2021 by Sam and Alex Berry, the founders of popular Teddington restaurant One One Four, the range of spirits and cocktail mixers is produced in a distillery on the riverside at Kingston.
“We’re super excited to be part of Rockin the Lockin’ – a great community project over lockdown is now able to happen in person!” says Sam Berry. “Bone Idyll prides itself on supporting projects like this with the community at heart.”
