October may only just be upon us but I’m already looking forward to November, as the Richmond Literature Festival runs from 5th- 21st in venues across the London Borough of Richmond. My keenly anticipated highlights are ‘This Is How We Come Back Stronger’, a panel discussion with Kate Mosse, Sara Collins and Juliet Jacques; and a conversation with Elodie Harper, author of Into the Wolf Den, chaired by Samira Ahmed. Former director of Friends of the Earth, Jonathon Porritt CBE, heads up a panel on climate change; Sathnam Sanghera discusses his book Empireland; Monique Roffey, winner of the 2020 Costa Book of The Year for The Mermaid of Black Conch, in conversation. There will be book launches; panel discussions; children’s events; Anita Sethi’s new nature writing; literary walking tours; and much more. My colleague, crime novelist Dr Russell Schechter, is running a workshop called ‘So You Want to Write a Novel’ on 11th November: it will be a fun and edifying session exploring getting to grips with writing fiction. At the Exchange, Twickenham, on 10th November there is the paperback launch of my book, The Beatles and Fandom, with a special guest panel. I look forward to seeing you there.
