A warm welcome to TW Magazines where community is at the heart of everything we do. Since its launch in 2010, the publication has been dedicated to bringing together the residents and local businesses of this wonderful corner of South West London. As the editor and publisher, my aim is to celebrate all things local and put local businesses firmly in the spotlight, whilst telling the stories that matter to our 35,000- plus readers.
Landing on the doormats of 13,000 homes and businesses in Teddington, Twickenham and the surrounding areas each month, TW Magazines delivers targeted local advertising at prices that are affordable for small businesses.
I’m passionate about actively supporting local independents by spreading the word and encouraging people to take advantage of the amazing services and products in our community.
As TW residents, we’re incredibly lucky to have many fantastic amenities and events on our doorstep; our editorial content always endeavours to enlighten and inform you about our community and its history. I know how precious your spare time is so you want to spend it wisely. From the best places to eat and stay to the latest hot tickets in the arts, along with children’s activities, educational opportunities, and much more, we’re spoilt for choice! We focus on the issues that are important to us as a community and feature advice from those who know.

TW1 & TW2
The home of England Rugby, Twickenham has developed from sleepy village retreat to a sprawling and vibrant south west London suburb. Its riverside setting and green spaces make it popular with families, while its rich cultural and musical heritage are celebrated at Orleans House gallery, Strawberry Hill house and the Eel Pie Island museum. More recently, The Exchange, run by St Mary’s university, offers entertainment and community events.
From East Twickenham through St Margarets and all the way up Heath Road to The Green, there are hidden gems in shops and services, while charming Church Street, with its niche independents, plays host to colourful seasonal markets.
With its lock marking the end of tidal Thames, Teddington is blessed with fantastic opportunities for leisure and sport. Canoeing, skiffing and paddleboarding are popular pursuits on the water, while Royal Bushy Park is a favourite among dog walkers, wildlife photographers and runners (it hosted the first-ever Park Run in 2004).
The area proliferated during the Victorian era and residents are rightly proud of its high street, which has retained its independent character, with a wealth of restaurants, pubs and unique shops. For arts and entertainment, there’s the Landmark Arts Centre – home to classes, comedy, concerts and exhibitions – and the beautifully restored Victorian Normansfield Theatre.
ABOUT THE EDITOR
If you asked me to name one of my passions, the answer would undoubtedly be The Thames. It’s what brought me to the area over 30 years ago and I’m now lucky enough to call one of its small islands home. The opportunity to become editor and publisher of TW Magazines in 2018 was too good to miss; a chance to combine a love of community matters with the area that is close to my heart.
Having spent 25 years in project and client management within brand design, I’m well placed to deal with the demands of publishing TW for Teddington and Twickenham. I’ve spent many wonderful hours visiting the shops, restaurants and pubs in our midst and feel a real connection to our neighbourhood’s businesses. I’m passionate about raising the profile of these local independents and connecting them to the community.
A keen rower and member of a local skiff and punting club, I’m committed to helping make the river accessible to local people, to preserving its beauty and keeping it clean. An eco- friendly and more sustainable lifestyle is a devotion of mine and, having built our eco house in 2016, I’m constantly striving towards creating a waste-free home. I spent many happy hours with my family on a boat that we used to moor at Teddington Lock. Even though my children are all grown (one now living in Sweden with a daughter of her own), I’m still very much a part of the area. Nothing beats an early morning stroll along the towpath with my beloved border terrier Tilly, although Bushy Park at dusk comes a close second!
So, that’s my story. I’m always interested in hearing from readers so please do share your news. You may have an historical insight, a charity fundraising scheme or new business to promote. Whatever it is, I’m all ears. And if you see me at one of our local events, please do come and say hello!
