With its lock marking the end of tidal Thames, Teddington is blessed with fantastic opportunities for leisure and sport. Canoeing, skiffing and paddleboarding are popular pursuits on the water, while Royal Bushy Park is a favourite among dog walkers, wildlife photographers and runners (it hosted the first-ever Park Run in 2004).

The area proliferated during the Victorian era and residents are rightly proud of its high street, which has retained its independent character, with a wealth of restaurants, pubs and unique shops. For arts and entertainment, there’s the Landmark Arts Centre – home to classes, comedy, concerts and exhibitions – and the beautifully restored Victorian Normansfield Theatre.
